Algeria U17: A first victory in Croatia! (video)

The Algerian national under-17 team has won its first match of the friendly tournament held in Croatia before the World Cup of the category.

The Greens dominated the Saudi team with a score of 2-0 on Saturday in a match counting for the first day of the international friendly tournament in Croatia (September 26 - October 5, 2026).

After a reflex save by goalkeeper Guemdani at the start of the match, the Greens opened the scoring through Zadig Bendiab with a low shot in the 39th minute, following a breakthrough on the right wing.

In the second half, during a beautiful three-man play that started with a throw-in, the very lively Mahdi Maghlout from Inter Milan will again break down the right before crossing and finding the head of Walid Nechab.

The Algerian team, led by Amine Ghimouz, will face the host country, Croatia, on September 29 (12:30 PM), before challenging Hungary on October 2 (12:30 PM) and finishing the tournament against Qatar on October 5 (3:00 PM).

As a reminder, the Algerian U17 team is preparing for its participation in the upcoming World Cup of the category scheduled from November 19 to December 13 in Qatar.

The Algerian cadets secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup after reaching the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-2026), held last May.

In Qatar, Algeria will compete in Group J alongside the United States, Chile, and Montenegro. They will start the competition against Chile on November 21 at 2:30 PM (Algerian time), before facing Montenegro on November 24 at the same time, and then the United States on November 27 at 4:00 PM.

The 2026 edition of the U17 World Cup will bring together 48 teams divided into 12 groups. The top two from each group, as well as the eight best third-placed teams, will qualify for the round of 16.
