CdM 2026: Maza, "Everyone fought today" (video)
Author of a high-level performance during Algeria's victory against Jordan (2-1), Ibrahim Maza was logically named man of the match. In the mixed zone after the match, the young attacking midfielder of the Greens mainly focused on the essential: the three precious points earned by the national team in the qualification race.
Clearly satisfied with the result, Maza acknowledged that the match had not been easy for Vladimir Petkovic's men, especially after going into the locker room trailing by a goal on the scoreboard.
"It was difficult, but I think we had the upper hand in this match. It was frustrating to go into halftime being behind on the score," he confided.
Despite this unfavorable scenario, the Algerian player highlighted the mental strength displayed by the group. According to him, the Greens kept their calm and confidence, convinced that they would eventually make the difference in the second half.
"We remained patient. We told ourselves that if we came back with the same patience, but doing a little more, we would score goals. We did it, and today we leave with the three points," he explained.
Elected best player of the match, Maza, however, did not wish to take all the credit for himself. The young talent paid tribute to all his teammates, believing that each one could have claimed this distinction given the efforts made on the field.
"I am very happy, of course, but the most important thing was the victory. Everyone fought, and I think any player could have deserved this trophy today," he stated.
Already focused on the decisive clash against Austria, Maza assured that the Greens would approach this match as a true final.
"We have more confidence now. It will be a final for qualification. We will fight even harder and win together," concluded the Algerian hero of the day.
