AFC CL: Houssem Aouar equals an Algerian record at Al-Ittihad.
Decisive against Al-Jazira, Houssem Aouar allowed Al-Ittihad to qualify, while joining the exclusive circle of the best Asian scorers in the history of the Saudi club in Jeddah.
Houssem Aouar not only contributed to Al-Ittihad's qualification for the group stage of the AFC Elite Champions League. The Algerian midfielder also took advantage of the success achieved against Al-Jazira (4-1) to join a prestigious page in the history of the Saudi club.
Starting in Abu Dhabi, Aouar scored his team's third goal in the 54th minute, following a double from Steven Bergwijn. This goal definitively tilted the match, which was largely controlled by Al-Ittihad.
The 2026 World Cup player thus brings his total to seven goals in Asian competitions while wearing the Jeddah club's jersey. He joins Abdelmalek Ziaya, Mukhtar Fallatah, and Romarinho in fifth place. Ahead of them are Fahad Al-Muwallad (8 goals), Hamza Idris (9), Naif Hazazi (14), and the untouchable Mohammed Noor (19).
Al-Ittihad has therefore directly secured its qualification, with Aouar already decisive in his first official appointment of the season.
