France: Kelyann Bezahaf convinces Bruno Genesio!
Kelyann Bezahaf continues to gain prominence at Olympique de Marseille. The young Algerian right-back, aged 20, has reportedly convinced Bruno Genesio to keep him in the professional team this season, whereas a loan was initially considered to allow him to accumulate more playing time.
Gradually integrated into the professional group during the summer preparation, Bezahaf quickly seized the opportunities presented to him. His various appearances with OM have allowed him to earn points with the new Marseille staff, particularly thanks to his seriousness, consistency, and ability to step up in various configurations.
These performances have not gone unnoticed by several Ligue 2 clubs, which have reportedly inquired about the possibility of welcoming the defender on loan. However, according to the latest information, Olympique de Marseille has ultimately decided to close the door on a departure. The Phocaean club now wishes to rely on their young player to complete the defensive rotation.
This decision is particularly linked to the trust placed by Bruno Genesio in the Algerian full-back. The French coach has reportedly asked Bezahaf to be ready to step up during the season, in a context where OM will have to deal with a particularly busy schedule.
Under contract until 2028 after signing his first professional deal last spring, Bezahaf could thus experience his first real season at the highest level. His profile also represents an interesting solution to relieve the starters in the right-back position.
For the young Algerian, this development marks another important step in his journey. An U23 international with the Fennecs, Bezahaf continues his rise at Marseille with the ambition of establishing himself permanently in the professional group. The decision of OM to turn down the Ligue 2 solicitations certainly reflects the confidence placed in him. A young Algerian talent to watch in the upcoming season.
